Our Philosophy/History

Founded in 1961 by Sid Singer, Automatic Ice follows the classic story of the typical American family business success story.
Realizing that the industry lacked a specialized distributor in the newly developing industry of commercial ice making equipment, Sid built his company and its reputation on a simple Four Part Philosophy—sell only quality equipment, provide truthful and knowledgeable service before and after the sale, always have ample inventory of both equipment and replacement parts in stock, and last but not least – be there for the customer when problems arise!

The old saying goes – “the more things change, the more they stay the same”.  This old saying is very true at Automatic Ice, as Jordan Singer, Sid’s youngest son, still runs the company today based pretty much on the same philosophy the company was founded on in 1961.

Since taking over the reins of the organization, Jordan has expanded the scope and product lines the company distributes. Automatic Ice has transformed into a complete full line refrigeration and cooking equipment distributor in today’s ever changing food service industry.  But the caring and concern over the level of customer service, especially when it comes to after the sale service, is still very “old school”.
